This course will assist you in obtaining the knowledge and skills to understand and support Cisco WLANs. The skills learned also can be applied to other vendors’ WLANs as well, because there are basic concepts, techniques and standards involved, which apply to Wireless Networks, regardless of vendor.

This course includes recommendations to view Nuggets from other CBT Nuggets courses. While the course duration is listed as 7 hours, you should expect to spend approximately 28 hours training.

Course Introduction


Hello. My name is Keith Barker. And on behalf of the entire CBT Nuggets family, welcome to CCNA Wireless. Let's begin. To get the absolute most out of this course, here's a few recommendations I want to share with you as we go through this course together.


Number one, I would encourage you to schedule the time whether it's just an hour a day or two hours a week or whatever it is, schedule the time, put it on your calendar, let people know you are serious about taking that time for yourself to learn this technology.


Second, I found it helpful to commit publicly. So if you want to post for example on your Facebook or on Twitter saying, hey, I'm going to study and I'm going to get the certification or I'm going to learn this technology. Making a commitment publicly adds a little teeny bit of positive pressure that can assist you in making that choice to keep on schedule and to improve.


And regarding committing publicly, if you happen to do it for example on Twitter, hey, throw my handle in there so I make sure I see it as well. Or if you do it on my Facebook fan page that way I'll see it as well. I like to be involved and a part of your learning and a part of your commitment.


Step number three, please enjoy the videos. Have a great time. Each and every video I've created as if you and I were sitting next to each other going through each of the concepts, doing demonstrations and reinforcing the concepts, and building as we take one Nugget at a time in order through this course.


In the fourth item, I would encourage you to lab it up wherever possible. In this course I have a couple of different examples of how you can lab it up. If you want to use for example VMware and ESXi Host, that is one option, if you're familiar with VMware and ESXi.


Or if you want to use VMware Workstation, that is also a possibility. Now with these virtualization environments, it's really easy to create virtualized wireless LAN controllers, as we'll learn about in this course. What isn't so easy to virtualize are the radios, the access points, that are generating the signals.


And as part of the NuggetLab files for this course, I've included some graphics and diagrams regarding topologies that I'm using as part of this course to build and demonstrate the wireless local area networks. Now regarding the NuggetLab files, I would also encourage you to download those.


The way you do that you just log on to, go to this course. And over on the right hand side, there'll be an option for downloading the NuggetLab files. And that way you have all those resources that are waiting for you as part of those NuggetLab files.


So I wanted to keep this introduction video really, really short so you and I can get right into the meat of the matter, and that, my friend, is in the very next Nugget.
